Our Room

By "our" I mean the baby and me.

So, here is the thing. Cellus has a bad back and is a light sleeper. I sleep a bit heavier and toss and turn. It was practical for us to get a king-sized memory foam mattress so we could comfortably sleep together. However, this makes for a bad co-sleeping set up.

The bed is made of squishy foam, retains heat, is high off the ground (Thanks to our bedroom furniture, which looks amazing by the way). Cellus also has to sleep with multiple blankets that are kind of heavy. It is also a tiny room with no place to put any kind of side car even if that was something that would work for us (it isn't). So, I took my sewing room/the guest room (that in all honesty had become an over-glorified storage shed...) and have been working on making it a baby+me room.

This is the progress so far:

Where me and the baby will be sleeping.
Only covered in an old sheet I've had for years for now, the sheet stained really badly (No clue how or when that happened) but it's clean. The bookshelf (that once belonged to Cellus' grandfather) is there to keep the mattress off the vent that is in the floor and doubles as an awesome place to hold stuff. (Who puts a vent in CENTER of a very tiny room? >:/ )

Closer view of the shelf.
Baby blanket (Made by my friend Ginger's mom), Mei Tai, and part of our Home Birth Kit (The kit is unused and was given to us by a friend who got it from a mutual friend of ours.) Also, some thermometer thing I've had for years.
On the shelves are an old ballerina statue, two old music boxes, a cute stuffed kitty, and a Christmas bell. Also, some books (There are more boxed away still for when baby is older, etc.) Then some stuffed animals and a couple pillows my grandmother made me years and years ago.

The shelf that will hold the babies toys (I still need to get storage baskets for it).
Hello Kitty phone (It is a real phone that can be functional + it looks cute~), an old wooden baby doll rocker crib.
The beautiful fabric draped over it is the unfinished blanket that Gingers mother was making for Cellus and I as a wedding present before she passed away. I wanted to use it for something beautiful and it worked. I enjoy the color and love it brings to the room. :)

So yeah. I am really proud of all my hard work. Hubby is impressed with it too. It's looking SO GOOD and coming along so nicely. Now just a few more things to do (I'm saving that for another post though) and it'll be one less thing to worry about!! :)
